- Adding
cards and expenses to legacy PABXs
- Adding extra ISDN circuits all of which are only partly utilised
- Separate numbering systems for the PABX and VoIP gateway making migration
harder
- No real integrated system
- Difficulty in communicating between IP phones and non-IP phones on the
same location
- Liberator
shares a PRI between multiple local devices
- Liberator can “translate” in-coming (and out-going) numbers so customers
can dial familiar numbers but be routed to the VoIP Gateway when appropriate
- Any port can call any port so VoIP calls can be routed through Liberator
via the Gateway to the PABX (or visa-versa) making the transition smooth
and invisible
to users
- Different network “minimum” and “maximum” capacities can easily be programmed
- Capacities available to devices can be changed based upon programmable
schedules
- BRI devices are removed from the legacy PABX giving a more integrated
and smoother migration
- Power-failure relays give protection to the PABX or Gateway
Reduces network and PABX costs
- Flexibility gives numerous migration options
- The PABX is removed without disturbing any circuits
- The link between ISDN and the Gateway is relay protected
- Ability to support multiple BRI ports
- Any port can call any port
- Easy expansion of ISDN services
- Liberator’s flexibility means different configurations can be accommodated
as requirements change during and after the migration.
-
Liberator has sophisticated least cost routing abilities
It also can support different configurations at different times of the
day.

Migrating to a VoIP network can involve many compatibility
and network issues including those of ISDN access. Liberator can share
ISDN between PABXs, VoIP gateways, video conference units and BRI devices
making the migration simple and saving network and hardware costs. Advanced
features such as number translation means in-coming calls to a DDI can be
routed to the PABX or the gateway. Users with VoIP handsets can contact non-VoIP
users on the PABX by routing through Liberator.
Liberator provides a central ISDN and switch resource for VoIP products, aiding the migration from a PABX to a VoIP network and sharing circuits.
Interconnection the Voice over IP telephones and traditional PABX extensions is enhanced and simplified.
This diagram illustrates one possible final example of VoIP migration
Liberator supports up to 3 PRIs so the Video Gateway can easy be upgraded
to PRI
Alternatively Liberator can connect to Two PRIs, perhaps different Carriers
for least cost routing and resilience
